Advantages of PPC

With all the talk of rising costs to play the PPC game, why should anyone bother? For those of you who are thinking about getting started with PPC marketing but need a little encouragement, I offer you the following advantages of the platform to consider:

  • It's easy to get started: Create an account and get going! No changes to your website are required.
  • Pay only for what you get: You only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
  • Total control over your budget: You decide what to spend.
  • High quality traffic: Users who click PPC ads tend to be very motivated to buy.
  • Control over your ads: Change your ad copy whenever you want.
  • Swift ad publishing: Have a new product coming out tomorrow? With PPC, you can get literally millions of eye balls looking at your ads within a day or so. Try doing that with organic search marketing!

You are not exactly teeling the whole story.

You say, "No changes to your web site." – Not. Having effective landing pages is critical. And the offer and call to action on your landing pages need to be matched to your ad copy. Yes, you can run PPC ads without setting up targeted landing pages, but you'll not be getting a good value for the money you spend.

Pay only for what you get / control over your budget – except for click fraud.

High quality traffic – our experience, as well as others, shows that organic search results produce higher quality traffic.

Yes, PPC is highly valuable. It is immediate and can be very effective. But, it is best used in conjunction with effective web site design and optimization. It's not as quick and easy as you brief statement implies.

Thanks for your comments, Steve! You're quite right of course: effective landing pages are crucial to PPC success. My brief post didn't address this, and so I thank you for amending it with such important information!
    cheers
